Minor in Communicology
The minor in Communicology allows undergraduates to complement their major with a stronger understanding of human communication processes and functions. As with the major in Communicology, students explore creating understanding, interpersonal relationships, and persuasion. They examine these areas in a focused number of contexts relevant to their major. All majors can benefit from a minor in Communicology because employers consider communication skills and the ability to get along with others essential for employees.

To declare a Minor in Communicology, students should complete a Communicology (COMG) – Minor Declaration Form (Login required).
Note
A GPA of 2.00 or above is required for admission as a Communicology minor.
The Minor in Communicology requires the completion of 15 credit hours of Communicology courses, including:
1. Required Communicology Courses (9 credits)
- COMG 364: Persuasion
- COMG 371: Creating Understanding
- COMG 381: Interpersonal Relations
2. Elective Communicology Courses (6 credits)
- Electives must have a prerequisite or be numbered 300 or above and cover a specific content area.
- COMG 399 and COMG 499 may not be counted toward the minor.
Additional Notes
- All courses taken to satisfy the Minor in Communicology must be for a letter grade of “C” or better.
- Our residence policy for minors stipulates that a minimum of 9 credit hours must be taken in the Communicology program.
Students should complete a Communicology (COMG) – Minor Verification Form (Login required) during the semester prior to the graduating semester.
